Hand-Bound First Editions!

We are so thrilled to show off the fruit of last weekend’s labor: the first printed edition of The Photographs Not Taken, an ongoing project of our good friend Will Steacy, in which photographers across the globe are asked to write about a moment in their lives that escaped camera and film.

We had a blast art directing this piece: from the page layout and cover design to binding and packaging. The uncomplicated aesthetic lends just the right amount of grace for the 29 intimate stories inside. We used red and white kitchen twine for thread and stitched each 76-page book with a traditional 3-hole pamphlet binding. For more information on this project, contact us here at EP Design or check out the blog and drop Will a note.

Not-So-Negative Results!

Another little post to fill in the gaps! A few months back we helped Taj Bailey of Negativity, a New York based clothing company, with his branding package. We knew right off the bat that an edgy letterpressed card was where we wanted to take the project. We worked with Neenah Paper’s duplex Classic Linen which paired well with the silver and metallic black inks used on the presses.

Eco-Friendly Business Cards!

Another overdue post! Editorial Pinch had a great time designing this logo and business card for the New York-based indie company, Von Deren Films. We enlisted our favorite LA illustrator for some sketching expertise and came up with this design: elegant with a pinch of circus! Our client Susanna was more than happy to go with our green printer in Portland that cranked out some seriously beautiful, earth-conscious cards on Neenah’s Environment recycled paper stock.

Juicy Letterpressed Cards

We should have posted these cards when we got them back from the presses but, well, we didn’t… So here they are, Beau Allulli’s lusciously letterpressed business cards, ready for action. This was such a fun logo to design; sneaking some silhouettes of the EP gang into the mix! And of course, any chance we have to work with Andy and his crew at the letterpresses is a thrill. Going on press, with the smell of paint and the methodical thudding of the machine against the paper can really make you weak in the knees. Also exciting for this project was the chance to use Crane’s new letterpress-specific paper: Lettra. We went with the 220# Duplex Ecru and were quite pleased with the sturdy, tactile results!

Just finished the logo for Beau Allulli’s branding package. See if you can find the Lolo silhouette in there… We’re going to have these letter pressed over at Andy’s presses, they always do a great job and it’s so fun to go on press to check out the work in progress. We will post the finished cards as soon as we get them back! If you want more info about Beau’s photography services, check out his website.
